AT&T U-VERSE CHANNEL 99

The Cupertino City Channel is now broadcasting on AT&T U-verse Channel 99. AT&T U-verse has been available in Cupertino since March 2007, but only recently have local community channels been added to the system. Customers who subscribe to U-verse can now tune to Channel 99 to view the Cupertino City Channel and other access channels from throughout the Bay Area.

The selection of Channel 99 launches an Internet-sourced application referred to as RDP or Remote Desktop Protocol. The average load period of this application is 30 to 45 seconds. Once connected to the RDP, subscribers can choose from a list of available cities. The Cupertino City Channel is located under the "Cupertino Television Network" menu item.

AT&T's transmission methodology for the carriage of local access channels differs from that of the commercial channels on the system. As such, U-verse subscribers may be presented with additional challenges in their attempt to view City Channel programming. These challenges include navigational issues, problems loading and resuming the application, and occasional signal drop-out.

AT&T engineers are continuing to work to improve the technology underlying their product. We encourage you to contact AT&T customer service if you encounter any problems with your viewing experience.

ABOUT THE CITY CHANNEL

The City Channel, the city of Cupertino's government access television channel (Comcast Cable Channel 26 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99), was the first government channel to begin operations in Santa Clara County. Established in 1982, the city's video department began televising city council and planning commission meetings in January 1983. Since then, the channel has grown into a vital information resource for the community, providing Cupertino residents with a wide variety of locally produced and acquired programming.

The City Channel offers a unique program format that combines local and state government coverage, as well as top-quality educational programming for teachers and students. Local city meeting coverage includes regular telecasts of city council and planning commission meetings. These meetings are televised live and repeated several times during the course of the week. State programming is offered via The California Channel, a satellite network that is broadcast late in the evenings. Programming includes same-day coverage of state legislative floor debates, committee hearings, press conferences and public affairs programs.

Local Cupertino programming includes a regular schedule of press conferences, town hall forums, special meetings, awards programs, groundbreaking ceremonies, and other community-related events. These programs are repeated several times during the month in order accommodate the greatest viewing audience possible. Special televised events include the Mayor's State of the City Address, the Lunar New Year Unity Parade, the CREST Awards (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken), the City Council Swearing-In Ceremony, and comprehensive city council election programming.

Two special programming resources are available regularly on The City Channel. They include the Annenberg Channel, an educational television network that provides programming especially developed for educators and students; and Classic Arts Showcase, a satellite network featuring vignettes of classical music, dance, theater and cinema. Annenberg Channel programming is televised weekday mornings and afternoons and on the weekends. Classic Arts Showcase can normally be seen Friday evenings and early Saturday mornings.

Residents with Internet connections can view Cupertino city meetings and other programs both live and on-demand. Webcasting of city meetings and other events is now presented in both the Windows Media and Real Media formats and is encoded to accommodate both dial-up and broadband viewers. With our Granicus MediaManager system , documents such as staff reports, agendas, and minutes are linked and cross-referenced to the video archives of city meetings, thus providing a simple and integrated solution for accessing public records.
