    CUPERTINO ELECTIONS
November 7, 2006

2006 Local Election Results

Early in 2006, the Cupertino City Council adopted Ordinance 1975 (Vallco) and Ordinance 1977 (Toll Brothers), both of which permitted mixed-use commercial and residential on certain parcels.

Referendum petitions were circulated and sufficient petitions were obtained to qualify the matter for the ballot, so the ordinances did not go into effect.

The City Council unanimously agreed to put both questions to the voters, and adopted Resolution 06-105 (Vallco) and Resolution 06-106 (Toll Brothers) calling for a special municipal election on November 7, 2006, to be consolidated with an election already taking place in the county.

A legal challenge regarding the sufficiency of the petitions was filed in the Court and was rejected, so the Court determined that the matters should proceed to the ballot.

The impartial analysis, arguments, and rebuttals will also be printed in the Voter’s Information Pamphlet.

MEASURE D (Vallco)

“Shall Ordinance No. 1975, an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Cupertino re-zoning a 5.19 acre parcel from Planned Development (Regional Shopping) to Planned Development (Regional Shopping/Residential) at 10123 N. Wolfe Road (Vallco), be approved?”
