    CITY
COMMISSIONS

A commission is created as an advisory arm of the Council as the result of a policy decision. Each has been charged with certain responsibilities in specified areas, and it is within these that the body should act. It may be that a member of a commission may disagree with an established policy. This is part of the democratic process, as is the expression of that disagreement in a minority vote. In spite of conflicting viewpoints, however, it is the process of addressing the issued that is served by commission action. The City is proud of its citizen participation and extends a hearty welcome to all commission appointees.

Select from the list of commissions to the left to find out more about each and how you can become involved.

A Commissioner cannot serve more than two consecutive terms unless they are filling an unexpired vacancy of less than 2 years. Notice is hereby given that the City of Cupertino encourages residents to apply for positions on City Boards, Commissions and Committees that will have vacancies in the future.

For more information about meeting times or places, or to apply for a commission, contact the Cupertino City Clerk's Office at 777-3223.
