Free Backyard Compost Flyer
Free compost, made from yardwaste collected from Cupertino's recycling program, is available for Cupertino city residents at Stevens Creek Quarry on Stevens Canyon Road (across from Stevens Creek Reservoir dam).
Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday & Saturday.
Closed: During rainy weather or if the site remains muddy and for Federal holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day).
No appointments are necessary.
Bring shovels and helpers. There are no mechanical loaders to help.
Residents are limited to 15 minutes of shoveling if other cars are waiting.
Please bring a valid drivers license or CA ID card to verify residency.

Compost can be loaded into either:
the bed of a resident's pickup truck. (Be sure to bring a tarp that can cover the compost. You could be cited by the CHP if you are transporting uncovered loose materials.)
a heavy tarp spread in the trunk of a car.
an empty trash can.
Bring heavy plastic bags or garbage cans. For you convenience, two bags per car will be available for your use.

Workshops are taught by Master Composters. Participants will learn about the different types of composting bins (including a worm box), along with information on what can be added to a pile (including kitchen scraps), how to tell when compost is ready to use, and how to use compost in the garden.
