SHERIFF'S OFFICE
WEST VALLEY DIVISION

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, West Valley Division, provides law enforcement services to the City of Cupertino as well as the communities of Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, Moffett, and the unincorporated areas of the western Santa Clara County. The Sheriff's Office maintains contracts with the Santa Clara County Superior Court, Valley Transportation Authority and the Santa Clara County Parks Department for law enforcement services. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has 586 sworn personnel assigned to these and other divisions.

There are twenty-eight deputies allocated to the City of Cupertino. Four deputies are assigned to traffic enforcement; three are assigned to the Motorcycle Unit and one uses a patrol car. Two deputies are School Resource Officers, providing the fourteen schools in Cupertino with a law enforcement resource and liaison to the Sheriff’s Office. One additional deputy handles all the enforcement incidents that arise at the schools. The remaining twenty-one deputies perform routine patrol functions, twenty-four hours a day.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing progressive law enforcement services and maintaining healthy community partnerships. Deputies are routinely involved in community events in the City of Cupertino. The West Valley Division offers many community oriented services in addition to routine law enforcement services. Some of these programs are Child Fingerprinting, Property ID, Teen Academy, Child Safety Seat Inspections, and Vacation Patrol Checks.

The West Valley Division Substation is located in Cupertino and maintains regular business hours for inquiries. The Substation has eighty-seven personnel assigned to the division. The division commander is Terry Calderone, who serves as the Chief of Police for the City of Cupertino. If you have any questions, feel free to call the West Valley Division Substation. If you need service for a non-emergency incident after business hours, please call 408.299.2311. Also, please use this number if reporting an emergency or non-emergency from a cell phone.
