Sister City - Copertino

The sister city relationship between Cupertino, California and Copertino, Lecce, Italy dates back to 1963 when Cupertino Mayor John Benetti visited Copertino to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Saint Joseph’s death.

It was recently revived when Vice Mayor Gilbert Wong visited in 2013 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sister City relationship and the 350th anniversary of the Death of Saint Joseph. Visit Copertino, Leece website.

This sister city relationship is Cupertino’s oldest. Other sister city relationships are: Toyokawa, Japan; Hsinchu, Taiwan; Bhubaneswar, India.
