The Planning Commission approved the application on September 27, 2016.
In January 2017, Target advised the City of Cupertino that remodel plans are currently on hold. The store will remain open.

Target is proposing to remodel the existing store and associated site amenities, including parking, PV panels, solar canopies, curbside pick-up area, outdoor plaza areas and landscaping. The existing store size of 129,650 gross square feet will not increase. Due a reconfiguration of parking spaces and general site plan improvements, approximately 138 trees within the parking lot will be removed and replaced in accordance with the landscape standards in the Heart of the City Specific Plan.
