Mayor Wang Announces Agreement to Honor Scrip for Closed Market
Posted Date: 9/3/2010 3:30 PM

Following the unexpected closure of Tin Tin Market, Cupertino Mayor Kris Wang has negotiated agreements with area stores to honor scrip purchased for Tin Tin Market.

Scrip is a substitute for currency which is a form of credit.

Cupertino schools receive less state funding per person student than any other school district in Santa Clara County. Local fundraising remains an important building block for the ongoing success of local education. In negotiating agreements with other local businesses, Mayor Wang is protecting and honoring the commitments that community members have made to support our schools.

Based on the many urgent messages from residents, Mayor Wang understood the broad impact from Tin Tin Market's closure as the entire community has patronized Tin Tin for many years. Through these new arrangements, parents and community members will continue to receive the full value of scrip dollars committed to supporting local schools.
