The Cupertino City Council has selected David Brandt to become Cupertino's new city manager.
“I am excited to be part of such a dynamic and diverse community as Cupertino,” said Brandt. Before taking the position with Cupertino, Brandt served as city manager at Redmond, Oregon since 2009. Previously, Brandt had worked in Alameda, California. He is scheduled to begin his duties in Cupertino on September 10, 2012.
“Cupertino has a long tradition of service excellence,” Said Mark Santoro, Mayor of Cupertino. “Our city council felt that Mr. Brandt would be able to continue that tradition and successfully meet the expectations of our council and community.” The city council selected the new city manager following a four-month nationwide recruitment. Retired Sunnyvale city manager, Amy Chan, has been serving as interim city manager since the departure of David Knapp in April of this year.
