Senior Recreation Leader
The City of Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department has openings in the following programs: Elementary/ Middle School Noontime.
POSITION: Senior Recreation Leader (part-time temporary, non-benefited position, maximum 995 hours per fiscal year)
HOURS PER WEEK: 4 to 10 (Approximate schedule: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm)
SALARY RANGE: $11.50, $12.00, $12.50, $13.00, $13.50 per hour *Salaries subject to change
FINAL FILING DATE: Open until filled.
DEFINITION: Under supervision, Senior Recreation Leaders plan, organize and supervise all recreational activities for Noontime Program and do related work as required.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Recreation Leaders are responsible for the overall promotion, organization, and leadership of recreation activities at Elementary and Middle Schools during lunch recess. Typical activities include, but are not limited to: arts, crafts, sports, games, contests, and special events. The Senior Leader may supervise Recreation Leaders and ensure that the assigned program meets the needs and interests of the participants while also maintaining good relations with other employees, school faculty, and other concerned groups.
Must be at least 16 years of age; must be CPR and First Aid certified; must have a high school diploma/GED and 500 HOURS of related work experience; such as: facilitating recreation/educational classes, recreational camp experience for youth/teens, experience in a daycare setting. College-level courses in education and/or recreation are desirable. The Senior Leader must have knowledge of safety precautions, the ability to supervise staff and maintain discipline with program participants, and prepare clear and accurate reports. A valid California Driver's License is desirable. The Senior Recreation Leader must be able to manage time effectively, show work initiative, and work independently.
