On September 14, 2017, the City of Cupertino received a resubmitted application with minor amendments to the Oaks Shopping Center (Westport Cupertino) proposal. Resubmittal of applications with minor amendments within 30 days of the decision on the original application is allowed under the GPA Authorization procedures adopted by the City Council.

Staff review of the amended proposal is in progress. The City Council public hearing date to consider the proposal is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Look for a post card in the mail, or on this web page, for the confirmation of the hearing date. Remember to sign up for e-notification on the right hand side of this page for the latest news.

The City of Cupertino received three applications for the 2017 second cycle. The City Council considered the applications at a public hearing on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. At the hearing, the City Council heard public testimony, closed the public comment/hearing for the item and took the following actions:

1. Authorized the Cupertino Hotel (Goodyear Tires) and Cupertino Village Boutique Hotel to submit formal applications for project and environmental review; and

2. Continued the decision on the Oaks Shopping Center (Westport) to its regular City Council hearing on August 15, 2017.

Subsequently, the City Council considered the Oaks Shopping Center (Westport) at its regular City Council hearing on August 15, 2017 and did not authorize the project to proceed with development review. The applicant has 30 days to resubmit a modified project consistent with the Council's direction for it's consideration.


Cupertino Hotel (Goodyear Tires Site)

Project Description: Demolition of an existing 8,500 sq.ft. commercial building (Goodyear Tires) to develop a five-story, 156-room hotel with underground parking, lounge, and conference facilities.

Westport Cupertino (Oaks Shopping Center site)

Location:  21267 Stevens Creek Boulevard

Project Description: Two development alternatives presented: (1) Mixed-use residential (605 units) and (2) Mixed-use office (280,000 sq.ft.)/hotel (170-rooms)/residential (270 units) gateway.  Both proposals include commercial (69,500 sq.ft.), community center (4,000 sq.ft.), open space, transit center, underground parking, and offsite improvements. In addition, both alternatives include a request for a density bonus for the provision of affordable housing.
