On October 21st, 2017 Cupertino Safe Routes 2 School and the Bicycle Pedestrian Commission hosted the 4th annual Fall Family Bike Fest featuring the Pedal 4 the Planet Family Bike Rides (Fall Edition)!

School Winner: Congratulations to Garden Gate Elementary School who won a free bike rodeo for their school! We had over 20 different schools represented at the Bike Fest and Garden Gate brought the most students! Garden Gate will enjoy their free rodeo sometime this school year.

The Fest- The Bike Festival featured a bicycle skills course and obstacle course with wooden ramps that taught young riders to ride safely while having a great time. The rodeo took place in the parking lot of City Hall (off Rodriguez ave) and was hosted by leading bicycle education experts- SafeMoves.  The rodeo welcomed over 60 participants, featured a bike safety trivia wheel, and raffled off a bike and helmet to one rider from Lincoln Elementary School!

The Rides-
The fall family bike rides feature two different "heats" to satisfy a variety of cadences. We hosted a leisurely 6-mile ride (best for families) and a 13-mile "Spandex" ride, both touring city schools, parks, and landmarks. The rides were open to kids of any age and their families and were chaperoned by experienced cyclists. Riders enjoyed both rides, particularly the "spandex ride" as riders said "the route gave them an almost complete tour of the City, coupled with the perfect amount of elevation to help keep the ride casual yet fun."

The Food-
The Bicycle Pedestrian Commission  brought its famous Bicycle Blender so riders could whip up healthy fruit smoothies using their own pedal power!

When: Saturday October 21st, 2017
Time: 9:30 AM - Noon
Where: Cupertino City Hall Parking Lot (off of Rodriguez Ave)

This ride is the fourth in the 'Pedal 4 the Planet' ride series for the City of Cupertino! Please contact Chelsea Biklen
