Cupertino City Council Election Results Confirmed by the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters
The Cupertino City Council election results have been confirmed by the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. The outcome of the election is unchanged with Darcy Paul in first place, Liang-Fang “Liang” Chao in second, and Jon Robert Willey in third.
The Registrar of Voters announced the completion of its annual recount on Friday, December 21, 2018. A manual recount was triggered after the election by Santa Clara County policy because the margin of victory between the third- and fourth-place candidates was less than .25 percent of the ballots cast. The manual recount policy was adopted by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors prior to the 2016 elections as a pilot program and made permanent earlier this year.
