Jennifer grew up in Michigan and moved to Cupertino in 2009, where she now enjoys biking and walking year-round. She’s passionate about improving infrastructure to make it easier and safer to walk and bike in Cupertino, especially for students.

Jennifer spent her professional life as a mechanical engineer for General Motors, where she received a Chairman’s Honors Award. She currently spends her time volunteering in her community. She has held several PTA board positions, chaired the Cupertino Tournament of Bands for two years, has been a Girl Scout leader for almost 10 years, and is on the Vestry (governing board) at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Cupertino.

Jennifer is a board member of Walk-Bike Cupertino, an advocacy organization dedicated to improving the overall walking and biking experience for local residents, and is an active participant in the Cupertino Safe Routes to School working group. While working with these organizations, she has created safe dropoff and pickup instructions for several local schools, as well as a series of safety tips for parents published in the monthly CUSD newsletter. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys traveling and learning how other cities around the world support biking and walking in their communities.

Bike Heller
Pete Heller

Pete Heller has served on Cupertino’s Bicycle Pedestrian Commission since 2012.  He chaired the commission during the period the 2016 Bicycle Plan was developed and adopted by City Council.  He was also instrumental in creating and leading the now annual “Pedal for the Planet” ride around Cupertino held on Earth Day.  This event has consistently grown in popularity each year, most recently sporting over 100 participants.

Pete has lived in Cupertino with his family for over 30 years. He is an avid cyclist who rides to work every day (rain or shine).  Since he believes in leading by example he also uses his bicycle for shopping and local errands versus driving.

Pete has worked in the tech industry since 1980 working for companies including Intel, Cadence and most recently, Spirent Communications.   He has been in product management and product marketing for the past 30 years.

Pete earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and has holds an MBA.  Both degrees are from Indiana University. He still enjoys developing software and is self-taught at developing Android apps.
